La semaine prochaine, DECODage exceptionnel d’Isabel Lopes (researcher, CESAM/Universidade de Aveiro) le Mardi 13 Juin entre 11h et 12h ! Isabel vient dans le cadre de la soutenance de thèse de Margot Wagner (doc DECOD/INRAE) et nous parlera d’amphibiens, de pollutions et d’expérimentations.

Résumé
The worldwide decline of amphibians constitutes a critical concern in conservation biology, with 41% of extant species considered as threatened of extinction. Pollution was identified as a major driver for such declines, highlighting the need for a better understanding on the impacts posed by chemicals to this group of organisms. Though, most available standard toxicity assays for amphibians involve in vivo experimentation, which makes difficult the hazard assessment of chemicals to this vertebrate class, considering the increasing amount of chemicals to be tested and the ethical issues involved due to animal experimentation. In this presentation, the adequacy of using in vitro non-animal alternatives and approaches monitoring more humane endpoints will be addressed and compared with existing standard in vivo methodologies.
