Determination of enzymatic activities

Research

Project MACROSENS: Chlordecone has previously been used as an insecticide to control the banana root weevil in the French West Indies (Guadeloupe and Martinique). The macro crustacean “Macrobrachium” is used as a sentinel species for measuring tissue-specific biochemical changes and investigating population dynamics in the field. These biomarkers link exposures and effects in ecosystems contaminated by chlordecone and other chemicals. The purpose of my work is to study the neurotoxicity mechanisms of chlordecone in the species Macrobrachium rosenbergii through the measurement of enzyme activities (Na + / K + -ATPase, acetylcholinesterase methoxyresorufin O-demethylase, Glutathione-S-transferase and carboxylesterase).
