Research

I am an evolutionary biologist rooted in the tradition of ecological genetics, but inspired by how modern, molecular-based techniques can shed new light on longstanding questions in the field. My research activities are found at the intersection of multiple disciplines, including: ecoloical genomics, population & quantitative genetics and ecophysiology. Though my research interests are somewhat diverse, all touch on the theme of neutral vs. adaptive evolution of animal populations inhabiting environments characterized by divergent ecological pressures. I am particularly drawn to the interplay between environmental and genetic sources of phenotypic variance, especially in traits associated with physiological function.
Current Research
I joined ESE in November 2016. Recruited to help strengthen the unit’s evolutionary ecotoxicology theme, I will be exploring the evolutionary and transgenerational effects of environmental stressors. My major focus will be on xenobiotics in the aquatic environment.
