Research
Thesis title
Detection, distribution and impacts of the parasite Tetracapsuloides bryosalmonae on wild brown trout populations.
Current research topics
The decline of brown trout populations at the foothills of the Pyrenees seems to be linked to a strong impact of the parasite Tetracapsuloides bryosalmonae, responsible for the proliferative kidney disease (PKD) in salmonids. The main objectives of my thesis are to develop a non-lethal method for the detection of the parasite in brown trout, to understand the spatial and temporal patterns of this host-parasite interaction and to determine the ecological and evolutionary impacts of the disease on wild populations of brown trout.
