The effectiveness of passive selectivity in fishing gear depends on the behavior of the various species caught. Indeed, whatever the design of the gear, there is no possible escape without a behavior that would push the captured individuals through the meshes of the net.
The aim of this thesis is to analyze underwater videos in order to understand the behavior of fish in fishing nets. Using artificial intelligence tools for image and behavior analysis, the project seeks to extract the parameters that govern the behavior of different fish species, in order to implement them in a model of fish-gear interaction.
