This interdisciplinary project deals with the study of speciation and immune system in lampreys. It is based on a collaboration between the Max Planck Institute (Thomas Boehm) and the DECOD lab (Guillaume Evanno). The goals are to study: 1) the genomic divergence between two closely related lamprey species with different life histories (Lampetra planeri and L. fluviatilis) and 2) genes from the immune system of L. planeri using the CRISPR-Cas9 approach.
