USEFUL Lost fishing gears and ghost fishing: causes, consequence and solutions

The aim of this project is to reduce the loss of fishing gear and the ghost fishing that could result. To this end, the type of lost fishing gear and the materials they are made of will be described. Their potential impacts on marine species and the seafloor will be studied. Innovations to reduce the loss of fishing gear and ghost fishing will be tested in the laboratory and proposed to commercial fishing vessels for a feasibility study.
